We are running an apartment management company located in San Antonio and McAllen, Texas.
I am always thinking about challenging myself to do something that others will not do. I talk to friends and clients about the importance of challenging yourself.
Sushi Restaurant in McAllen City
Last night around 9:00 p.m., the husband of a tenant of my apartment brought me a California roll. I was surprised. I had no idea that a Japanese sushi restaurant existed in a rural Texas town. The Mexican tenant spoke only a little English, but he had worked in a Japanese sushi restaurant for more than two years. In a year he worked in the kitchen and in another year, he worked in the sushi counter.
To our surprise, the sushi restaurant’s owner has three sushi restaurants in San Antonio and eight in McAllen. The all restaurants are very busy and actually, he is working 6 days a week.
What a surprise! The owner is Japanese!
The owner is Japanese. I do not know his name, but I was impressed by his courage and willingness to take on a challenge. It takes a lot of courage to expand into a rural area and develop a business there.
The Importance of Taking on Challenges
I thought that there should be more Japanese people who are willing to take on the challenge of spreading the advanced technology of Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises throughout the world. Safety and self-preservation are a step backward. Companies that can expand their business to the world are desired in the future. Language barriers are not an obstacle to overseas expansion. Abandoning overseas expansion because of the language barrier is an excuse for not trying something new.
Making friends with new strangers can be a lot of fun.
